Majority of the students who drop out due to learning crisis come from the rural areas of Nepal. We have focused our efforts to empower the local communities of these areas who impact kids’ education. We work with local youths, parents of the students, public schools, and teachers to make sure that every kid learns.
Academically low-performing students are selected, who are studying in Grade 3, 4, and 5 through baseline assessment. Priority is given to the lowest performing students
Fellows are selected among the local youths of the project area. Applications for fellowship is publicly opened followed by candidate workshop. A 10-days residential training is conducted to prepare the selected fellows who will now lead 15 students each in remedial courses.
Parent’s meetings are held thrice throughout the course. The first one is held before the remedial classes begin, second when the remedial classes are completed half-way, and finally at the end of the remedial course.
A course consists of 90 lessons of two hours each. The lessons take place either before or after the normal school day in a classroom at the project schools. Courses are led and taught by local youths who are trained to teach our 90-lesson course in Nepali and Math.
Every two weeks, Fellows Support Sessions are held to help the fellows manage the challenges in their classes.
Learning exhibitions are held in every project school at the end of the classes, where students showcase their learning from remedial classes in front of their peers, parents, and school authorities.
